Nga taputapu o te ruma.

Last week we did te reo in our class. 
Then we got into groups of four but some people had three or five.

We were learning about a te reo game its kinda like memories so you flip the card and when you pick up the card you have to guess the card that you picked up.

I found it easy to say most of the maori words on the paper.

I found it hard to say some of the maori words bacause the words were too long.

I really enjoyed doing the te reo so I can learn how to talk maori a little bit.

E haere ana au ki te toa.

This week we did a slide show of what we will mostly get at the supermarket and then we had to write our food in English then we had to write it in Maori.

I found it easy to make my shopping list to put in my presentation.

I found it hard to find the correct Maori words for my shopping list.

I really enjoyed putting my presentation together.

Next time I need to pick the right Maori words for my presentation.

Show Don't Tell


WALT makes inferences about a character's feelings.

This week we read a story called Timo and his shorts. It was about this boy called Timo and he got some new shorts so he can go for a swim at school with his friends. Then he had a big problem when he got to the changing shed to get changed but his shorts were gone.


I found it easy to talk about Timo’s face,body,and voice.
I really enjoyed talking about Timo’s reactions and feelings and what he might be thinking.

epro 8

 During this week my class did this rotation thing everyday after morning tea. Yesterday my class did epro 8 and in my team was Dallas,Ezekiel,Devontae, and me. When the teacher gave us the instructions we had to build a dog kennel. We were learning about e pro 8 and how to build the dog kennel.


First, my team and I had to think what we had to do with the floor and then tried to make the legs so our dog house could stand properly.


Secondly, when my team was building we were in front of everyone because we were on criteria three and the dog house was nearly taller than me.


Finally, when the build was done we had to break the whole thing down and put the parts in their correct spots.  

I found it easy to grab the nuts and bolts and give them to Dallas.

I found it hard to put the parts together.

I really enjoyed building the dog house with my team.

Next time I need to be more understanding so my team knows what I'm saying.

Acrostic poem

 During week 1 my class and I went into lockdown. We had to do online school work and we had to do our work at home. It was boring because we had no cross country to do.

In the first week of lockdown I was getting bored. I couldn't wait to go to school but we got stuck in a lockdown for a few weeks and carried on with online school.


Second, while we were in lockdown I always tried to do something to entertain myself so me, my mum and my sister went for a walk down to The Aerodrome. Then we walked down there for six kilometers. When we got back I checked my chromebook to see if I had class but it took me one minute to find out that I had no class.




Finally: Now we are in Level two I can go back to school to see my friend’s.


We were learning about an Acrostic poem.

I found it easy to write while I was in lockdown.

I found it hard to put language features in my writing.

I really enjoyed doing online school so the can explain how we can improve my writing

Next time I need to do more work for maths and reading so I can move the little man up into the air.

Patly cloudly

We are learning to infer and make predictions when we are reading.

This week me and my class did Literacy. In Literacy we watched a video called Partly Cloudy. The whole class watched the video and then we went to our tables to put our information in our slide of T-Shaped. 
We were learning how to make inferences using the book Wheke.

I found it easy to put information in my Literacy slide.

I found hard to make some inferences.

I really enjoyed watching the video to get my information.

Next time I need to try thinking about the clues in the text to help me more.

Maths Basic Facts certificate


In my class we did a maths warm up to practice basic facts. I got 85% and it took me 19m and 43s. The maths was hard because I am on early stage 6 so my teacher said I had to do stage 6.

We were learning how to quickly recall our basic facts.

I found it easy to use my knowledge of times tables to answer the multiplication questions.

I found it hard to answer the know groupings to 1000 questions, so will work on them to improve my score.

I really enjoyed doing maths.

My digital day

We are learning about how we advertise ourselves online.
We talked about only posting things online that keep us safe. 
We learned how tagging photos and post make it easier to find out about someone, so we need to be careful about our post content.

We created a D.L.O showing our Digital Day.


Firstly. We did cybersmart and we had to do go on our history and look at the icons.

Secondly. We had to use an app called remove.bg. Then we had to put the photos on my digital Day map.

Thirdly. We had to put the icons that we got from our history on to our map in the order that we visited.

The apps that I used is reading eggs, Mathz whizz, class hand in sheet, and google slides.

I found it hard to find the colour writing that represents each one.

Why should recess should go for longer

Recess should go for longer. Because if you go outside you can get fresh air. You can have more time to play and eat.You can also miss some school work.


Firstly, fresh air can make you work better and makes your brain stronger. It is a well known fact that you learn more when your brain is refreshed and it can function better so you're ready to learn. 


Secondly, if recess goes for longer you can play soccer, basketball, and handball. So you can play, get more exercise to get fit and practice your skills. 


Lastly,if you don’t like school work then this is why recess should go for longer because if it goes for longer you will miss a lot of school work and do your work only for an hour.


This is why I strongly recommend that recess should be longer because I can play for longer and I can miss a lot of work and you can play and get more exercise.

I am water


We were learning about a poem called I am water. The poem was about how water travels from the mountains to rivers and the sea.

I found it easy to find all the nouns and make the design. I tried doing maori patterns for my border.

I found it hard to understand some of the words in the poem. So then I made a copy of the Glossary and researched the definition of the words I didn't know.

I really enjoyed working on and doing the design.

Next time I need to find all the language features.

T-shape


For T-Shaped Literacy I was learning about language features. Language features are what authors use in their storys to make there reader´s make a picture in their mind.

I found it easy to find the language features and write about it and find what I need from the text.

I found it hard to find some of the language feature´s like metaphors.

I really enjoyed to write the words in the slide.

Next time I need to use the Language Features Toolbox to remind me what some of the language features are .

I found it easy to write about Matariki because I got the information from the text we were reading.

I really enjoyed putting the stars on my work. I enjoyed learning that Matariki is used for gardening.

BLAKE NZ VR


Last term Blake NZ visited. We learned about marine reserves. We were able to use VR sets and Explore the oceans.

We found it easy to learn about sea animals and clean water and pollution water look like because the VR sets made the learning clear and interesting.

We worked in groups to make a presentation.

We really enjoyed working together and finding information.

Next time we need to use better communication in our group.

Clickety-Clack Cicada


 

We have been learning about language features during Literacy. The way we have been doing this is by reading and understanding poems. 

Some of the features I identified in the poems are metaphors, verbs, onomatopoeia, and adjectives. 

This week we read Clickety-Clack Cicada by Jill Brasell. 

I found it easy to identify some of the language features such as metaphors.

I found it hard to locate the nouns because it is an area I think I need to work on more.

I really enjoyed learning about metaphors because they make the story more interesting and help to create an image in our mind about what the author is trying to tell us.

Next time I need to work on discussing the poem more and sharing my ideas.

the loaves


 We were learning about metaphors A metaphor compares 2 different things. In this poem the author use metaphor to compare bread to cloud.


I found it easy to design because I did amazing design.

I found it hard to draw because I draw multiple things.

I really enjoyed colour in because I used a lot of colours.

Next time I need to draw carefully and think what I should draw.
